A series of Supper Clubs organised to celebrate Charlie & Ivy’s 10th anniversary raised over £1,500 for HOPING (Helping Other People In Need Group) York Street Kitchen.
The series of four producer-led supper clubs took place at The Cook’s Place in Malton, where diners enjoyed three-course seasonally inspired suppers cooked by the venue’s proprietor, Gilly Robinson.
Jennie Palmer, Charlie & Ivy’s marketing manager, is delighted with the amount raised: “We were hoping to raise £1,000 over the four events, so we’re delighted to have exceeded our target by over 50%.
“Thanks to the generosity of the guest producers, Staal Smokehouse, Yorkshire Pasta, Puckett’s Pickles and Wold Top, with the support of other local artisan producers, including Luke’s Bakery, Yorkshire Wolds Apple Juice, Soanes Poultry and Masons, all of the proceeds after costs went to HOPING.”
Helen Meadows, trustee at HOPING, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the support, both practically and financially, that Charlie & Ivy’s has provided to us as their charity partner these past 2 years. This money will go directly into buying the ingredients used by our incredible volunteer cooks and essential items for our outdoor kitchen, which operates every Sunday in the grounds of King’s Manor, 2.30-4pm.
“As a wholly volunteer-based charity of 8 years, we have served over 300 freshly cooked, two-course meals each week, in all weathers, suitable for take away/other days. We also provide crisis support in the week and work closely with refugee support services. Thank you to Jennie, all at Charlie & Ivy’s and all those who supported the amazing Supper Clubs.”
