The team at Charlie & Ivy’s is celebrating after three of its products won gold awards in a prestigious national competition.
Charlie & Ivy’s Truffle Mayonnaise, Truffle Oil and Lemon, Garlic, Thyme & Balsamic Bread Dipper won gold awards in the Farm Shop & Deli Product Awards, which recognise and reward the best food and drink products sold in farm shops, delis and other specialist food retailers.
“Independent and specialist retailers are some of the main outlets for people to buy Charlie & Ivy’s products, so it’s great news that we have been awarded the highest accolade for products stocked by these retailers and to get such fabulous feedback. We’re also incredibly proud that this is our fourth consecutive gold medal, and our products have only ever won gold in these awards, ” said Jason Thompson, who looks after New Product Development at Charlie & Ivy’s.
The judging team included leading farm shop and deli retailers, top wholesaler buyers and industry experts. They concluded that the Lemon, Garlic, Thyme & Balsamic Bread Dipper was ‘The best dipping oil I’ve tasted. The flavour profile is beautifully balanced: citrusy, herby, with garlic present but never overpowering. Its versatility is a real strength; it would work brilliantly as a topping for many dishes and is just as suitable for cooking.’
The judging criteria assess all elements of the product, including the full value chain, branding and taste, ensuring products are not just great tasting, but are positioned to sell well in the specialist retail sector.
